Katarzyna Forst

Graduate of the Social Sciences Faculty at the University of Silesia in Katowice. After receiving her MA in political sciences with the specialisation in journalism, she has become a PhD in humanities in 2002. In 2013 she graduate from the postgraduate studies as a Manager of the Research-Development Project (Wyższa Szkoła Bankowa – WSB University in Poznań), and in 2016 another postgraduate studies in Organization and Management “Manager in Education” (Gnieźnieńska Szkoła Wyższa Milenium).

Since 1996 she has been professionally bonded with the University of Silesia, where she has worked at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Philological Faculty and Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television (now Kieślowski Film School). She cooperated with the Poznan University of Social Sciences between 2000 and 2011. In agreement with the University of Silesia she has been delegated to create the satellite campus department of the Poznan University of Social Sciences in Katowice, where she was first a Director of the Campus and later the Dean. She has also cooperated with the School of Finances and Law in Bielsko-Biała.

In 2017 she was awarded by the Rector of the University of Silesia for her organisational work. Additionally, she is the Dean’s plenipotentiary for publishing and the chairperson of the Faculty’s Publishing Group at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School. She is also a member of the Senate’s Commission for the international cooperation at the University of Silesia and a member of the University of Silesia Publishing Board. She is the chairperson of the committee of the Polish Journalist Competition in the student category.

She is an academic teacher at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School and the tutor of the University of Silesia College of Interdisciplinary Individual Studies. She is an author of many scientific publications and reviews. She acts as a supervisor of Bachelor and Master theses.

Her research interests are concentrated at the widely understood social communication, mass media, social media and the European Union media policy with an interest in the financing of the audio-visual media.
