The laureate of the 2nd edition of the Kazimierz Kutz Award became a Silesian writer and journalist - Szczepan Twardoch.

At the same time prof. Tadeusz Sławek was awarded the title of "Ambassador of Silesia", a distinction honoring a person who devotes a lot of their energy to the place where they live.

This year's nominees included, among others Wojciech Smarzowski - film and theater director, screenwriter, producer of documentaries, commercials and music videos.

The Jury of the Award included, inter alia, Dean of the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia, prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz.

Kazimierz Kutz Award promotes artists who combine artistic activity with social involvement, presenting an attitude close to the patron of the Award. The prize is awarded by Teatr Śląski im. Stanisława Wyspiańskiego, the City of Katowice and the University of Silesia in Katowice.

The laureate of the 2nd edition of the Award was announced on February 16, 2022 at a gala at the Stanisław Wyspiański Theater in Katowice.

The Pitching Session will be held as part of the Student Film Market, organized concurrently with the 19th Węgiel Film Festival. Selected participants will have the opportunity to undergo a pitching training and present their project to the award founder.

The call for applications lasts until March 15, 2022.

Selected projects will be announced on 01/04/2022.

Requirements:

  • rough cut / work in progress of a documentary
  • duration from 15 to 52 minutes (the so-called TV hour)

We got to know the nominees for the Kazimierz Kutz Award. The award promotes artists who combine artistic activity with social commitment, presenting an attitude close to the patron of the award, Kazimierz Kutz.

The winner of the 2nd edition of the award will be announced on February 16, 2022 at a gala at the Stanisław Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice.

This year, participants have the opportunity to create advertising films, music videos, films for TikTok and audioseries. Applications are accepted until February 28.

This year, there are as many as 5 categories in the competition. In Branded Stories, in which advertising films for brands will be made, creators will be able to create productions for AGH, Amica, DPD, Onet, Philips OneBlade, Porsche and Żabka. In the Music Stories category, this time there will be music videos for musicians from Def Jam, such as Paulina Przybysz and DJ BRK, as well as IGO from Iglo Records. For the first time, foreign artists will also be included in this category - from the Czech Republic (Hellwana) and Spain (Jansky). In both categories, the finalists will receive 18,000 PLN financial support for the production of films and music videos as well as the help of mentors.

The Papaya Young Creators competition will also include new challenges. For the first time in the history of the competition, TikTok application will appear. Two subcategories will debut in the new edition of the competition - TikTok Branded Stories and TikTok Unique Stories. Participants will interpret various topics as a part of the creative starters. The answer to the competition briefs may be an idea for an advertisement using the TikTok media space (TikTok Branded Stories subcategory) or a ready-made film presenting the issue of diversity and inclusiveness (TikTok Unique Stories).

As a result of joining forces of Papaya.Rocks and Audioteka, a new category was created - Audio Stories. It will select the best ideas for an audio story. Audio Stories is for everyone who wants to present to the world an interesting concept of a sound story. It will select the best ideas, written in the form of an audio concept, stories that will compete for the chance to be produced by Audioteka, and then distributed and promoted by Audioteka and Papaya.Rocks.

To take part in the competition, you need to create an account in the Participant Panel at www.papayayoungcreators.com, read Creative Starters, and then describe the idea and use the Panel to upload the work to the system. Works can be submitted solo or in duets. Applications are open until February 28.

This year, on the initiative of the Węgiel Film Festival, the industry and film school market called the Student Film Market are starting. They will be an opportunity for young people starting their way in the world of film to establish important contacts in the environment. The aim of the event will also be to support emerging projects and promote young Polish creativity.

The first edition of the Student Film Market will be held on May 12-15, 2022 in Katowice during the 19th edition of the Węgiel Film Festival. The festival is prepared by second-year students of the Film and TV Production at the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice.
