Karolina Monwid-Olechnowicz - 4th year student of Cinematography at Kieslowski Film School of the University of Silesia has won the prestigious VIVA! Photo Awards 2020!

Karolina Monwid-Olechnowicz received the Grand Prix of the competition and the jury's award in the Portrait category for her work "Outside the borders". The award was granted by the jury including: Martyna Wojciechowska - journalist and traveler, Tomasz Gudzowaty - photographer, Katarzyna Tusk - blogger, Michał Piróg - dancer, choreographer and television personality, Katarzyna Przybyszewska-Ortonowska - editor-in-chief of VIVA! and Marek Knap - the artistic director of Edipresse Polska.

VIVA! Photo Awards is the largest photography competition in Poland. For over 12 years, the world-famous jury has awarded winners in several key categories (including portrait, reportage, nature). This year's winning works will be presented in the form of an exhibition in Łazienki Królewskie in Warsaw and will be auctioned, the proceeds of which will be donated to charity.

We invite all our students to the workshop "Contemporary Crossmedia Production" by Benjamin Cölle - lecturer at the Konrad Wolf Film University in Babelsberg and the tutor of the Torino Film Lab Audience Design program. Cölle for students of the Kieślowski Film School has prepared workshops that will be held regularly from March 1, 2021 to April 20, 2021.

In groups of three, the participants of the masterclass will develop the history / format / experience according to the agile working method (plan-prototype-test). During the course, participants will be presented with topics related to story development, audience creation, format development, platform design, tools used to prepare a prototype and testing, financing, workflow, distribution strategies and designing tools that engage the audience.

This Friday a meeting called "Personal stories - how to show inner experiences on the screen?" with the participation of our graduate and lecturer Bartosz Konopka will take place. The meeting will be on February 26 at 20:00 on the Facebook profile of (link) Papaya Young Directors.

The best stories are the ones we can relate to. They evoke emotions in us and leave a mark on our memory. These stories usually come from the artist's own life, but presenting them on the screen is a big art. Even for experienced directors, transferring the whole range of experienced emotions, a multitude of thoughts or perceived smells to paper, and then to individual frames in the film, is a difficult task. How to show inner agitation? How to present anger without screaming, despair without a tear, joy without a smile? How to engage the viewer in a story about experiences without spectacular explosions or breathtaking special effects?

Bartosz Konopka, a director (including the Oscar-nominated "Rabbit a la Berlin"), film expert and academic lecturer, will answer all these questions and reveal which techniques to use to present your inner experiences on the screen.

Film School Krzysztof Kieślowski of the University of Silesia in Katowice is the educational partner of the 8th edition of the Papaya Young Directors competition. The meeting takes place as part of our cooperation.

Gallery Pusta cd. invites to the opening of the exhibition entitled "Natural(nie) naturalnie" by Aram Jesajan - 1st year student of Cinematography at Kieślowski Film School. The opening of the exhibition will take place on February 22 at 6.00 p.m. on the MS Teams platform.

Natural(nie) naturalnie

The presented works are a personal observation of the landscape of the Silesian Beskids. Complicated shapes, winter and mountainous scenery, as well as the elements of interference of a human in the environment, create an abstract image of nature. Exhibition title indirectly emphasizes the "unnaturalness" of the presented space.
