At the end of the 1960s in Cracow a series of grisly murders occurs. Grzegorz Wilczynski, a young and ambitious policeman, takes over the investigation from his older colleague. After the apprehension of Karol Kot, the supposed culprit, the policeman leads the investigation aimed at carrying out a demonstration execution of the mentally disturbed murderer.
After discovering numerous irregularities in the case, Grzegorz, against his superiors, decides to undertake an attempt to save the young man from gallows. Now he needs to face the struggle not only for justice but also for his own future.
