Jolanta Trela-Ptaszyńska

A poet, essayist, screenwriter, television and film director.

A graduate of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Silesia in Katowice.
Lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in the field of Film Production.

At the age of twenty-two, she debuted with poems in "Twórczość". She publishes poems and essays in literary magazines.
She published two volumes of poems, "Brulo" (MAW, Warsaw 1988) and 21 (TZK, Katowice 1992), and a collection of essays entitled "Ukryta struktura" (Sonia Draga 2018)

For television program TVP 2 she directed artistic programs based on classic poetry and prose classics. For the debut series "Poetry of a new wave" she received the TVP President Award for Television Work (1990).

For the film show "De Aegypto" based on the motifs of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, she received the Polityka Passport and many prestigious awards at film festivals (1996).
"Dead from Spoon River" one of eight plays nominated for the BANFF World Television Festival 2007, was her debut at the TV Theater.

Vice President of the Katowice branch of the Polish Writers' Association.
The originator of "Literary Action" promoting writers' work.
Chairwoman of the Program Board of the Entertainment Theater.
Awarded with the Silver Badge of Honor for Merit to the Silesian Voivodeship.
