Marek Chyliński

Marek Chyliński

Journalist, media expert, postgraduate in journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Silesia (1984). In 2007 he earned a PhD degree in political science. He works as an assistant professor at the School of Journalism and Social Communication of the Institute of Political Science, University of Opole. Since 2009 he has been cooperating with the School of Media Management and Film and TV Production Management at the Faculty of Radio and Television, leading MA seminars, lectures and classes, among others, the subject Media Management.

He worked in Katowice and Warsaw as a journalist and media manager. Between 1997 and 2004, he was an editor of "Dziennik Zachodni", the largest regional newspaper in the country. He completed internships and trainings in Germany and in the USA. In 2005, he created the Warsaw Institute of Journalism Polskapresse, an innovative institution dedicated to post-graduate professional training of journalists and media workers.

He is a member of the international council of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN IFRA). In this body Marek Chyliński represents Polish environment of newspaper publishers and media managers. June 2, 2015, he was re-elected by the General Assembly of WAN IFRA which met in Washington. Since 2007, he is a president of the Arbitration Court of the Chamber of Press Publishers in Warsaw.
