Joanna Malicka

Film producer, production manager, film studies graduate, journalist. After completing the film studies at the University of Silesia (1996-2001) associated with the School of Film and Media Studies, Faculty of Philology, then she studied film production at Lodz Film School (2008-2011), and completed the course for creative producers at Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing (2011).

She participated in international courses about film (i.e. courses by the East European Script Foundation, MIDPOINT workshops, ANSICHTSSACHE and others). She is associated with film festivals, among others, New Horizons (since 2005) and REGIOFUN. She is a journalist of the monthly magazine "Ultramaryna".

During her studies at the Faculty of Production at Lodz Film School she worked as a production manager on several student short films. Films produced by her had their premieres at major international film festivals (including Locarno). After graduation, she specialized in the project development. She is an originator, founder, an editor-in-chief and a publisher of the newspaper “On the Horizon” published every year during the festival New Horizons. Since 2011 she has been conducting "Young producer" workshops at the International Film Festival REGIOFUN.

She runs her own company which produces short films and develops documentary projects, as well as cooperates with No Sugar Films. She is an author of the texts in the field of contemporary film history, particularly interested in the Austrian cinema. She published in numerous collective volumes, as well as in magazines "Opcje", "artpapier" and others. For several years she worked as a sales agent.

In 2012 she was awarded with the prize Gesellschaft zur Wahrnehmung von Film- und Fernsehrechten (GWFF) at the Festival in Cottbus for the best coming young producer.
