We are pleased to inform you that the Institute of Film and Theater Arts of the Kieślowski Film School together with the City Museum in Tychy, is the organizer of a meeting with the authors of the book entitled "Nowe miasto. Nowe widzenie” ("New town. A new seeing”).

In the academic year 2021/2022, students of the Kieślowski Film School documented the city of Tychy. They created under the supervision of their lecturer, a respected artist, prof. Rafał Milach, and museologist Ewelina Lasota.

Young people, detached from computer screens (after a period of distance learning during the COVID-19 epidemic), went to the city. In 2021, 70 years since Tychy construction began, there was a feeling that there were still insufficiently explored areas of the city.

The resulting book is formally and conceptually diverse. It presents topics such as new architecture or local identity manifested in attachment to the local soccer team. The students are interested in the relationship between people and the space in which they live. Their individual portraits in a clash with the repeatability and uniformity of the place of residence.

How do young people take over the city, occupying backyards, vacant buildings and shopping malls? What prospects does the city offer to today's thirty-year-olds: married couples, singles, natives and foreigners? What is the future of shopkeepers and craftsmen displaced by chain stores? The authors ask questions about what is everyday.

Participants of the photo project: Bartosz Gaczyński, Paweł Grabarek, Tomasz Grzymała, Lena Jabłońska, Jakub Kaźmierczak, Anna Ryń and Jakub Stoszek.

Scientific and technical artistic supervision: prof. Rafał Milach

Substantive care and coordination: Ewelina Lasota
