We invite you to the television premiere of the film Porajmos. The Forgotten Holocaust, directed by our lecturer, prof. Dagmara Drzazga!
On August 2, 1944, the SS decided to "liquidate" the so-called "Gypsy family camp" at KL Auschwitz-Birkenau. In the gas chambers of Crematorium V, 4,300 people were murdered — defenseless women, children, and the elderly. 80 years later, survivors of the Holocaust and their children and grandchildren gathered at the site. Romani youth from across Europe also came to pay tribute to the victims. The documentary Porajmos. The Forgotten Holocaust, directed by Dagmara Drzazga, tells the story of the genocide of the Roma and Sinti during World War II. It also recalls the memories of the few remaining witnesses to those harrowing events.
The film was produced by TVP3 Katowice for TVP SA, and the academic research that supported the creation of this documentary was funded by the University of Silesia as part of Katowice European City of Science 2024.
You can watch the film on August 7, 2025, at 10:25 PM on the TVP1 channel.
We warmly encourage you to tune in!
