We are delighted to announce that Natalia Koniarz, alumna and current PhD candidate at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice, has been nominated for the Empik Discoveries Award in the Film category for her documentary “Silver.”

“An exceptionally filmed documentary about the hopeless everyday life of people working in Bolivian mines, whose ‘here and now’ is determined by silver. In ‘Silver,’ we observe not only those working underground, but also their children, often growing up alone in the shadow of the great mountain. The film impresses both as a broad portrait of a community and as a powerful audiovisual experience,” reads the jury’s statement by Paweł Pachla.
