The International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, one of the most important short film festivals in the world, has been a great success for our students. It was the 40th edition of the Festival, which took place between 2 and 11 February 2018. The award for the best documentary was won by Jakub Radej for the film Dust.

Papaya Young Directors

The competition is organized by the Warsaw production house Papaya Films and the educational partner is the Faculty of Radio and Television. The competition for young filmmakers is the only of such kind in Poland.

To take part in the competition one has to write eksplikację reżyserską about the brand of the main competition partners and in case of being selected, also to direct their idea.

The nominees will be awarded with: the budget for the film, theoretical and practical workshops with the professionals, the possibility to meet the representatives of the commercial branża and attractive prizes granted at the official gala planned fort he 13. June.

Until now there has been more than 3000 eksplikacja reżyserska submitted to the competition written for 25 sponsors, such as: Allegro, Volkswagen, Rossmann, Mastercard and H&M. This year there are new brands and challenges waiting for you!

On Wednesday, 31. Jan, exhibition of the photographic works of first year students of Cinematography and Photography took place. The exhibition „Kiedyś wiało“ („Once it blew“) was created during the workshop with dr hab. Jakub Byrczek in Samotnia.

In Światowid Cinema on Thursday, 25. Jan, a special screening of the film „Panic Attack” with the film creators – director Paweł Maślona, producer Jan Kwieciński and actresses: Aleksandra Pisula and Julia Wyszyńska – took place.

The film is a debut of the graduates of the Faculty – Paweł Maślona and Cezary Stolecki (cinematography). It’s premiere took place during the 42. Festival of Polish Feature Films in Gdynia.

„Panic Attack” is a multi-layered story, where normal people become trapped by the unexpected events, which radically change their lives. An attractive crime novel author meets on a date her ex-boyfriend. A married couple coming back from holidays chooses the worst place on the plane. A teenager smokes weed fort he first time in his life and expriences a total high. A young girl risks that her girlfriends will recognize her as a porn star. A bride gives birth on her own wedding with a help of a dog psychologist, while at the same time a waiter tries to save the planet.

Katarzyna Warzecha

It’s real awesome directed by Katarzyna Warzecha with Piotr Pawlus as a DoP was awarded twice during one weekend! First was granted to Katarzyna Warzecha – Special Mentions Films D’écoles Européens during the 30. Jubilee edition oft he Premiers Plans Festival in France.

While Piotr Pawlus was awarded the Prize for Best Cinematography at the 11. International Film and Music Festival in Küstendorf.
