During the 27th International Short Film Festival in São Paulo (Brazil) starting on 24 August the international premiere of the film Disorder, produced by the Faculty of Radio and Television, will take place. The film was produced by the students of WRiTV Julian Tałandziewicz (script, direction and editing) and Maciej Kwasniewski (cinematography).

Disorder is a story told without any words of a librarian who snatches of life lethargy after a seemingly trivial event and awakens the hitherto dormant desires. The film was previously presented at the Lubuskie Film Summer in Łagów where it received the Silver Grape in the Short Feature Film Competition

In Wroclaw this year's edition of the International Film Festival T-Mobile New Horizons ended. Among the winners were students and graduates of the Faculty of Radio and Television.

In “Zoom” Competition the award for best film was received by Marcin Lesisz, student of WRiTV, for a documentary Goran the Camel Man. Special Award in the same competition was granted to the creator of the video clip Tu do, where Mariusz Rychłowski, also a student of WRiTV, was a cinematographer.

The winner of the script competition organized on the occasion of the Year of Kieślowski was Aleksandra Terpińska, a graduate of the Faculty of Radio and Television. The jury chaired by Krzysztof Zanussi awarded her for the script. A competition for the script of a short film inspired by Blind Chance, organized by the Television Kino Polska, Film Studio TOR, Munk Studio-SFP and the National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers and announced in March, was one of the elements of the celebration of the Year of Kieślowski. The winning script will be sent to production.

In Wrocław, today starts the 16th edition of the International Film Festival T-Mobile New Horizons. As every year, several short films, realized at the Faculty of Radio and Television found their way to the Competition of Polish Short Films. This year are:

  • Arkansas, dir. Sebastian Drożak, DoP Igor Połaniewicz
  • Lockjaw, dir. Kordian Kądziela, DoP Michał Pukowiec
  • Man Night, dir. Małgorzata Suwała, DoP Adam Zapała

In the case of the film Man Night its screening in Wrocław will be a world premiere.
Films, realized at the Faculty of Radio and Television were in the past repeatedly presented and awarded at the festival New Horizons. In 2012, the feature etude Echo by Marcin Filipowicz was awarded the Grand Prix in the Polish Short Film Competition, and in 2015 the film America, directed by Aleksandra Terpińska, was awarded the Special Prize in the Zoom Competition.

Film The Return, produced by the Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television, received Special Mentions in the competition Film Young Poland, which took place during the 20th Festival "Summer with Muses" in Nowogard. This is the first award for the film directed by Damian Kocur and with Kacper Sędzielewski as a DoP, whose premiere was held in June at the Krakow Film Festival.

The main character of The Return goes on her first, thirty-hour pass from prison. At home there are her husband and a several-year-old son waiting for her. Everything is set – during her pass the three of them are going to leave the country. However, before the escape Ania decides to settle accounts with the past.

On July 9 in Radom the 9th edition of the Polish National Film Encounters Intimate Summer finished. During the festival in the competition participated, among others, films produced at the Faculty of Radio and Television. During the closing ceremony of the festival the nominations for next year's edition of the Jan Machulski Polish Independent Film Awards were announced. Two nominations were given to the films, produced by the Faculty of Radio and Television:

  • for Best Picture Bartosz Bieniek was nomintated for his cinematography in the film America by Aleksandra Terpińska;
  • for Best Actor the nomintation was granted to Ariel Makara for his role in What I Want by Damian Kocur.
