The film "The Hero" (2021), dir. Milena Dutkowska, produced at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia returns from the 62nd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlin with the award for the best fiction film in the student competition. The film's cinematographer is Igor Połaniewicz. Ernest Małkiewicz was responsible for production management. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz.

As we read in the Jury's justification: “This fleeting cinematic poem is told from the point of view of a ten-year-old child who is coping with the death of a loved one. The poetic film first fascinated and amused us, then saddened us, and finally gently caressed and calmed us down."

The International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlin (Czech Republic) is a unique, largest and one of the oldest film reviews of its kind. About 350 films from over 50 countries are shown each year, attracting around 95,000 children and adults to Moravia each year. The festival program is aimed at viewers of all age groups.
