Big applause for Dr. Jan P. Matuszyński!

We are very pleased to inform you that as part of the 6th edition of the Silesian Science Festival, one of the winners of the Silesian Science Award 2022 was Dr. Jan P. Matuszyński, lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School!

The ceremonial gala was opened by the general director of the ŚFN and the rector of the University of Silesia, prof. dr hab. Ryszard Koziołek. The gala was also attended by the President of the City of Katowice, Dr. Marcin Krupa, the Vice-President of the City of Katowice, Waldemar Bojarun, and the Vice-President of the Management Board of the Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis, Henryk Borczyk.

Out of 40 nominees in three categories (i.e.: employee, doctoral student, Special Award of the President of the City of Katowice) there were 15 women and 25 men.

The awardees were selected by the jury headed this year by prof. dr hab. n. med. Katarzyna Mizia-Stec, vice-rector for science and international cooperation at the Medical University of Silesia. In addition, a special prize was awarded by the Mayor of the City of Katowice to a person conducting scientific activity for the benefit of the Katowice community. The gala held on March 18 was hosted by Marta Sudnik-Paluch, a journalist of the eM radio.
