Winning streak of America, produced by Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television, continues. Information about the next success arrived from Potsdam (Germany), where the film has won the award for best short film during this year's Sehsüchte Festival. Jury explained the decision to award America with the words: "Ameryka throws us into the wild west of Poland, where we witness two girls and their all too real struggles of a youth at the end of the world. Everything that is great about cinema in its most vibrant moments is apparent in Ameryka: Natural acting, strong conflicts and desire, captivating visual language and bold narrative decisions. The short format is used to its fullest, since every frame of the film tells us about the characters, their wishes, desires and their world. We were especially impressed by the courage to contrast the hardships the characters have to go through with their joy for life and hope in a seemingly hopeless world."

It is already the twelfth award for the diploma film of Faculty’s students: Aleksandra Terpińska (directing and script) and Bartosz Bieniek (DoP). Sehsüchte is a leading European festival of student films. This year its 45th edition was held. In recent years, films, produced by the Faculty of Radio and Television, have been repeatedly presented in the festival competitions. In 2011, the prize for best short film was awarded to Kuba Czekaj, director of Twist & Blood. More information about the Festival can be found on its official website.
