Description of the field:
Studies in the field Directing is aimed at preparing graduates to work as a director of feature and documentary films, TV shows and performances, as well as short television and film forms, including advertising films.
The three-year study program includes basic subjects in the field of knowledge about culture, philosophy, sociology and the history and theory of various fields of artistic creation (film, theater, music, literature, visual arts) as well as major subjects aimed at equipping students with professional skills (including feature and documentary directing, television forms, editing, working with actors, film and television techniques, advertising, sound production, economics of film and television production ).
During their studies, students participate in practical workshop exercises, ultimately leading to the production of independent television and film etudes. The studies end with the preparation and defense of a bachelor’s thesis, which consists of theoretical (written) and practical (realization) work
Professional prospects:
The graduate of the first-cycle studies has knowledge of the humanities and professional skills in the field of screenwriting, directing and working with an actor. He also has knowledge about the technical and technological aspects of film and television work (including, among others, the art of cinematography, editing, film soundtrack development, film set design).
The elements of knowledge, skills and social competences acquired during his studies make him prepared to perform supporting functions of the second director, assistant directors on professional film sets of feature films and documentaries, and can also work in television and other media, advertising industry, educational and artistic institutions, cultural institutions, etc.

For a full-time study program The second degree consists of theoretical and workshop classes that deepen and improve previously acquired skills in the field of film directing, dramaturgy, set design, screenwriting, working with an actor, film and TV editing, sound production, computer animation, as well as humanities subjects including, among others: issues of the history of literature, drama and theater. The main aim of the second-cycle studies is to prepare for the production of a diploma film and to write a theoretical master’s thesis.
As part of the preparation of graduates of second-cycle studies, the Faculty provides substantive and programmatic contact with institutions and organizations that make professional debuts in short, medium-length and full-length films.
Professional prospects:
The graduate of full-time second-cycle studies receives in-depth knowledge of the humanities and professional skills in in the field of directing and screenwriting. He has the experience necessary to work with actors and extras. He has knowledge of the technical and technological aspects of film and TV work, with particular emphasis on knowledge of the art of cinematography, editing, film music, sound and film set design.
The knowledge, skills and social competences acquired during studies enable him to work independently as a director in theatre, film, television, entertainment industry and as an adapter and screenwriter after graduation. He may also perform the duties of a producer of films and artistic performances as well as managerial functions in cinematography and television units.
