Description of the field:
Studies in the full-time and part-time system last six semesters. The program, implemented over a three-year period, includes subjects containing basic educational content in the field of economics, management, law, film and audiovisual arts, media, information and communication, history of culture and art, as well as subjects related to professional knowledge, including, for example: organization and economics of film and TV production, TV and film technique and technology, basic art of cinematography, editing and sound in audiovisual works. During the studies, the student has contact with both theoreticians in selected fields and practitioners employed in cinematography and television units.
After the first and second year of studies, the student is obliged to undergo professional practice in the audiovisual sector institutions of their choice.
The studies end with the preparation and defense of a written diploma thesis on topics related primarily to the theoretical and practical aspects of the implementation of media messages (films, television broadcasts, artistic performances, forms advertising).
Professional prospects:
The graduate is equipped with knowledge in the field of economics, law and humanities, as well as professional skills and social competences necessary to cooperate in the effective organization of creative processes and management of entities in the field of the audiovisual and cultural industries. Theoretical and practical preparation predisposes him primarily to work in auxiliary and creative positions in cinematography and television, as well as to hold managerial positions in media houses, advertising agencies and artistic institutions. The graduate is prepared to undertake second-cycle studies.
Entry examinations:
Job interview: knowledge of film and media and a test of predispositions to perform the function of a production manager in film and television. Candidates must have passed the secondary school leaving examination/maturity examination.
During the entrance examination, the recruitment committee composed of lecturers from theFilm School. Krzysztof Kieślowskiassesses the candidate’s competences and organizational and creative predispositions in the field of art, culture, film and media.
The questions concern the history of Polish and world film, the directions of contemporary cinema, the principles of functioning of cinematography and media in Poland. The candidate may also be asked to propose a solution to an organizational problem in the field of film production.

They include subjects containing basic content in the field of managerial techniques, marketing and promotion, knowledge of contemporary art and directions of contemporary cinema. At the same time, the study plan includes numerous professional subjects covering, among others, the following issues: financing of TV-film production and mass events, legal and ethical aspects of audiovisual production, producer’s and production manager’s workshop; application of promotion and advertising techniques in the audiovisual sector.
In addition, the studies include classes related to the production of practical TV and film works and the organization of artistic events with the participation of the University. The teaching plan provides for the student’s contact with both theoreticians in selected fields and practitioners employed in cinematography and television units.
The studies end with the submission and defense of a written master’s thesis dealing with a selected theoretical or practical problem related to the study plan.
Professional prospects:
Graduates of second-cycle studies are equipped with knowledge in the field of economic, technological, legal and artistic problems of the functioning of cinematography, television and other mass media. They acquire skills and social competences that predispose them to become independent production managers and producers of audiovisual works. They may also hold managerial positions in distribution companies, cultural institutions and artistic impresariates, as well as in entities operating on the advertising market. The graduate is prepared to undertake third-cycle studies.
Entrance examinations:
Graduates of higher studies (Bachelor’s and Master’s) in the field of organization of film and television production, as well as economics, law, sociology, cultural studies, journalism and social communication can apply for admission to studies.
The candidate applying for admission has the qualifications and competences necessary to undertake education at second-cycle studies in this field, in particular:
Admission to studies up to the limit will be based on an interview verifying knowledge of various types of social structures and institutions (political, legal, economic) and on contemporary cultural life and cultural institutions and verifying the ability to perform the function of a production manager in film and television.
In the case of candidates who obtained the same grade in the interview, the next criterion is the grade from the diploma thesis and then from the diploma examination.
Qualified persons whose program of completed studies differs significantly from the program in the field of organization of film and television production may be required to take into account the program differences.
