Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia on Friday, September 17, was visited by an exceptionally large group of guests! Pupils from the Private Primary School "ART" in Tychy visited our thresholds - almost 70 people in total!

The children took part in the workshop "How does a film studio work", conducted by Krzysztof Szlapa, an employee of the School. Children had the opportunity to play the role of directors, cinematographers, sound engineers, set designers, and actors themselves. Under the supervision of a School employee, they could shoot their own improvised scene and feel like on a real film set.

Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia, has been the honorary patron of the "ART" Private Primary School in Tychy since October 1, 2019.

Mother's Day (2021) directed by Patryk Kaflowski qualified for Raindance Film Festival, where the British premiere of the film will take place. Founded in 1992, Raindance is the largest independent film festival in the UK. The festival is on the prestigious list of Oscar qualifying festivals, Student Oscars and BAFTA Awards. Our production will be presented in a short film program entitled "Relative States".

This year's edition of the festival will be held on October 27 - November 6 in London. Each year, Raindance attracts 16,000 visitors to London, including 500 film professionals.

Mother's Day had its world premiere during the 40th edition of Koszalin Festival of Film Debuts Young and Film. It aslo won the International Competition at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival in India, at the same time receiving the Oscar qualification in the category for short fiction films.

During the 17th edition of the CineFest Miskolc International Film Festival, which will take place on September 10-18 in Miskolc, Hungary, the achievements of the cinema of Upper Silesia will be presented.

As part of the prepared program, on September 11 at 17:00, among others, our student short films will be screened. As part of the program, three thematic blocks will be presented. The first will be a mini retrospective of films by Lech Majewski, with the screenings of the films "Wojaczek" (1999) and "Angelus" (2001). The director will also meet Hungarian audience.

As part of the next part of the presentation, dedicated to the Kieślowski Film School in Katowice, student shorts will be presented. The program includes the following short films: My Country, So Beautiful (dir. Grzegorz Paprzycki, 2019), Vyraj (dir. Agnieszka Nowosielska, 2020), Test (dir. Bartosz Toboła, 2020), End of the World (dir. Karol Ulman, 2020), Seal Story (dir. Bartłomiej Błaszczyński, 2020). Animated films produced by Studio Filmów Rysunkowych in Bielsko-Biała have been prepared for the youngest audience.

The presentation of the film work of Upper Silesia in Miskolc is carried out by the Ars Cameralis Silesiae Superioris Cultural Institution in cooperation with the Marshal's Office of the Silesian Voivodeship, Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia and the Studio Filmów Rysunkowych in Bielsko-Biała.

It is with deep regret and great sadness that we have received the news of the death of prof. Wiesław Hudon - a photographer, film director, art critic and historian, academic teacher, long-term lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia. He passed away at the age of 78.

Karol Kurowski informed about the death of prof. Wiesław Hudon on his social media. - My master, father. Now I am crying and it is very hard for me. Someday I will write more, because memory must last. Honour to his memory - he wrote on Facebook.

Funeral ceremonies will take place on Friday, September 10 at 3 p.m. in Luxembourg in the family circle.

In our memory, prof. Wiesław Hudon will remain a valued artist and academic teacher, and a tutor of many generations of students.

Piotr Polak, the main actor in the film "Tumble" (2019) directed by Milena Dutkowska, received the award for the best actor in the short film category at the Horrible Imaginations Film Festival in the USA.

Horrible Imaginations Film Festival takes place from September 2-5, 2021 at Kino Frida in Santa Ana. It has been organized since 2009 and over the last 11 years, over 750 movies from horror, sci-fi and fantasy have been shown. Horrible Imagination Film Festival was ranked among the 100 best-rated film festivals on the FilmFreeway platform in 2018. In addition, MovieMaker magazine placed it in 2018 on the list of "50 film festivals worth submitting to".

Tumble tells the story of 32-year-old Adam, who still lives with his overprotective mother. Their everyday life is filled with the rituals of obedience and mutual relations. Everything changes as soon as one night Adam starts being accompanied by a man in a gray suit visible only to him. The film had its world premiere at the 44th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. It was also included in the selection of the international Film Festival in Shanghai and many Polish film festivals.
