Summer Media School workshops for film school students and young professionals, which started on June 23, 2023, are drawing to a close on July 6, 2023.

The two-week residency workshops organized in Lithuania gave participants the opportunity to create short films. Kieślowski Film School students, who are in the second year of Creative Management in New Media, made these films in cooperation with students from Lithuania, Spain, Finland, Latvia, and Estonia.

For our students, the workshops were a part of the classes conducted by Kieślowski Film School lecturer Dr. Anna Huth. They were also part of Erasmus+ BIP, which consists of short, intensive programs that focus on innovative learning methods.

We've incorporated photographs that capture the intensity of the production process - link.

You can also find posters of films co-produced by Dr. Anna Huth and our students.

Prof. Rafał Milach, Kieślowski Film School lecturer, has gained membership in Magnum Photos. Founded in 1947, Magnum Photos is a photo agency characterized by its distinct styles. Its members are from different parts of the world, and they provide unique insights into the least-explored social and political realities.

Prof. Milach received the nomination for membership in 2018. However, it was during the 76th general meeting that happened last week that the collegiate body took the decision to confer on him permanent membership.

We are extremely privileged to have the photographs of our lecturer appreciated by one of the best photo agencies in the world. We've put together some beautiful works for you to enjoy.

The Norwegian premiere of the documentary film "Draugen", directed by prof. Dagmara Drzazga, lecturer at the Kieślowski Film School, was held in Kvitsøy on Thursday, June 22.

The film focuses on Wojciech Bogadoł, a man from Mikołów conscripted into the Wehrmacht. The Germans sent him to Norway, and he eventually found himself in Kvitsøy, where he discovered love. A Norwegian family embraced him as their own. With time, Wojciech entered the underground because he swore in Poland that he would not "serve the Germans".

The premiere, held at the Historical Center, was attended by the town community. The filmmakers, who had visited the town four years ago to take photographs for the documentary, were welcomed with open arms because the story depicted in the film is still something close to the hearts of the townspeople.

The crowning event of the series, "Book on the Stage!" (KSIĄŻKA NA SCENĘ!) was held on June 22, 2023. It was a part of the Theater Book Club organized by Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, rector of the University of Silesia, Katowice, and Ewa Niewiadomska, editor of Polskie Radio.

The discussion centered on the audio adaptation of Henryk Sienkiewicz's acclaimed novel, "With Fire and Sword." Among those present at the meeting, in addition to a number of guests, were the participants, including Krzysztof Kiczek, a PhD student at the Kieślowski Film School, the director of the adaptation, and Dariusz Chojnacki, who essayed the role of Michał Wołodyjowski.

The meeting was held at the Silesian Theatre (Teatr Śląski im. Stanisław Wyspiański).

We encourage you to experience the brilliance of Sienkiewicz's work through the audio adaptation available at the link.

We're kicking off the week with great news!

Nowak's film Afonia is competing at this year's Shortfest Palm Springs International Film Festival, which takes place from June 20 to 26. Thanks to funding from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the student's personal participation in the festival has been achieved, which is a significant recognition for Marta's artistic activity. We thank the organization for making this possible.

Once again, we wish her good luck.
